How We Ship and What to Expect

How We Ship your Vehicle:

DAS maintains one of the largest and most versatile auto transport fleets in the industry, comprised of over 150 multiple car carriers and several smaller car carriers. Our auto transport trucks are combined with the smaller flatbed trucks owned by our nationwide terminal network to pickup and deliver any vehicle anywhere in the U.S.
DAS will often start your move by picking up your vehicle at your door with a flat bed truck and taking it to our nearest partner terminal. From there your vehicle will most likely be picked up by one of our multiple car carriers and be taken either to one of our regional hub locations or to our partner terminal nearest to your destination. The destination terminal will contact you to arrange the delivery of your vehicle.

Due to the routes of our auto transport trucks, and the varying pickup and delivery locations of vehicles that may accompany your vehicle during transport, your vehicle may not move directly towards your destination at all times.

What to Expect When Shipping Your Vehicle

The thought of shipping your car, truck, or motorcycle for the first time can be scary. To help put your mind at ease here is how it works:

Select your Auto Transport

1. Select an auto transport company

There are plenty of them out there. Only a few are actually carriers but most of what you will find will be brokers. DAS recommends that you use a 'carrier' rather then a broker. Brokers serve as an intermediary when shipping your vehicle. They 'book' your move and then try to find a carrier that will perform your move. If they can't find a carrier for the price you paid, they may ask you for more money, change your pickup date, or change your estimated transit time.

DAS is a carrier. We own a fleet of trucks and have terminal locations all across the country. We utilize these resources to move your vehicle. When you book with DAS, you are eliminating the "middleman" by booking directly with the carrier.

2. Book your order

When you book your order, you will need to provide the following information: year/make/model of your vehicle, modifications to your vehicle, where you want your vehicle picked up and delivered, and when you want to start your move. The sales representative will give you a price and an estimated transit time for your move.

3. Prepare your car for shipping

Your vehicle should be clean for inspection, have less then a quarter tank of fuel, all alarm systems should be disconnected, remove all garage door openers, E-Z passes, antennas (if removable), and any exterior spare tire covers or grill covers. Remove all personal items from the vehicle; auto transport companies are not licensed to carry household goods. Remember to prepare your vehicle for the new climate -- this may include engine coolant, transmission fluid, oil, and other fluids.

4. Be available for pickup

You or your designated representative must be present for the inspection at the time of pick-up or drop-off (if you are taking your vehicle to a terminal). The driver will inspect your vehicle and will document scratches, dents, and the general condition of the vehicle.

5. Track your vehicle online

You can track your vehicle< 24 hours a day. Our trucks are equipment with satellite tracking to give you up to date tracking information.

Ship and Delivered your Auto

6. Be available for delivery

A representative will contact you to schedule your delivery date and time or, if you are picking up your vehicle at a terminal will advise you that your vehicle has arrived.
